Stephen Beeler14 Red and Club Co-Director

Steve just finished his sixth season as the head volleyball coach at Terre Haute South.  In his first six seasons there he has guided the program to over 120 wins, two sectional championships, produced 2 Indiana All-Stars, and sent 8 players on to collegiate programs.  He, with Brian Payne,  is a co-founder of the club and the 14 Red coach.  Steve was brought into volleyball coaching through the boys program at Terre Haute South that started in 1997. His job as a 14's coach is to develop players for a higher level of play while taking into account the individual abilities of the players. He has coached club for eleven years and has produced one two time AAU All-American. 

Jim Bertoli

Bertoli is a graduate of Ball State University. He enjoyed part-time coaching positions at Bishop Chatard High School, Grand Valley State College and Zone Six Volleyball Club before becoming head coach of men's volleyball at Dartmouth College in 1991 and followed his stint there with positions as head coach of women's volleyball at the University of New Orleans (1991-1995) and Montana State University (1995-1997) before ending his collegiate coaching career at Indiana State University (1997-2003). During his years in the coaching profession, his collegiate programs received numerous awards and recognition from Athletic Management Magazine , The NCAA News, Volleyball Magazine and Coaching Volleyball Magazine. Bertoli was the master of ceremonies for the 2002 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Banquet and has been a featured speaker at numerous events including the Indiana State University Recreation & Sport Management Symposium, Leadership Wabash Valley and the American Volleyball Coaches Association conventions. Bertoli served on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors from 2001 to 2003. He has been published twice with, Skills & Drills for Volleyball and Marketing & Promotions for Volleyball. Bertoli current sits on the board of directors for Crossroads of America Volleyball Club. He resides in Riley, Indiana with his wife, Pam and their three boys, Anthony, Ben & Jackson.

Kelsey Boyll - 12 Red Assistant

Kelsey Boyll is currently a freshman at Ivy Tech majoring in Elementary Education. She grew up in Farmersburg, Indiana and attended North Central Junior Senior High School. She has been playing volleyball since 7th grade and was a letterman in Varsity volleyball 3 years. She is currently the Junior High volleyball coach at North Central Junior Senior High School. 

Beau Brown - 16 White Assistant

Beau is from Rosedale, Indiana and is currently a junior at Indiana State University studying Insurance Risk Management. While attending Riverton Parke High School, Beau lettered 3 years in baseball as a third baseman. Beau has coached the girls volleyball team at John Paul II Catholic High School in Terre Haute for the past three years. He currently plays for the Indiana State Men's Club volleyball team as a setter. Beau has never coached for COA and is looking forward to the experience.

Ashley Cassell - 12 Blue

Ashley is originally from Corydon, Indiana where she graduated high school in 2000 from Corydon Central High School. While in high school, Ashley lettered three years in volleyball and four years in basketball. She also competed for two years in club volleyball for Louisville Junior Volleyball Club, based out of Louisville, Kentucky. After high school Ashley attended Indiana State University where she earned a B.S. in Science Education. Now a teacher at Terre Haute South, Ashley looks forward to her first year of being a part of the COA coaching staff. Currently, Ashley resides in Terre Haute with her husband, Chris and daughter Avery.

Courtney Dayhuff - 14 Red Assistant

Courtney Dayhuff is currently a junior at Indiana State University majoring in Social Studies Education. She grew up in Clay City, Indiana and attended Clay City Junior Senior High School. She has been playing volleyball since 5th grade and was a letterman in Varsity volleyball all four years. Also, she was All Conference her junior and senior years. She played club volleyball here at COA and also played for Indy Select in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is currently the Junior Varsity volleyball coach at Clay City Junior Senior High School.

Samantha Gregory  - 16 Red

Samantha is a Sophomore at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She grew up in Huntsville, AL and has been playing volleyball since the sixth grade. Samantha attended Catholic High School where she played varsity volleyball for all four years. She earned her varsity letter and four pins while playing for Catholic High, where she was the captain her junior and senior years. Samantha was named a member of the 2006-2007 State 2nd team and was awarded all metro her senior year and all area her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She has played club volleyball for three years, two of which were on the power/travel teams for North Alabama Spiker’s Association. Samantha has completed her second college volleyball season as the libero for Rose-Hulman under the coaching of Brenda Goble.

Karah Hickman - 14 White

Karah is currently a sophomore attending Rose-Hulman where she is majoring in biomedical engineering. Originally from Hobart, IN, she attended Hobart High School and has been playing volleyball since seventh grade. She lettered in volleyball three years and was captain her senior year. She also was chosen as MVP her junior and senior years and received All Area First Team and All State Academic honors. She played five years of club volleyball for Dunes Volleyball Club in Northwest Indiana. She currently plays middle for the Fighting Engineers under the direction of Brenda Goble. Last season she was voted the Most Improved Player by her teammates.

Amanda Jevons - 16 Red

Amanda Jevons is a sophomore at Rose-Hulman and is originally from Las Vegas, NV. She attended Rancho High School Medical Academy and has been playing volleyball since 9th grade and played varsity volleyball for 3 years. Her junior and senior year she was named varsity captain and received First- team all conference honors as well as MVP all region. While in high school she earned her varsity letter and for varsity pins. She went on to play club volleyball for Club Vegas for three years on the 16-1 and 18-1’s teams as an outside hitter and middle blocker. Currently, she is a sophomore at Rose-Hulman playing varsity volleyball for Coach Goble as a fighting engineer.

Emily Kennedy - 14 Blue

Emily was born and raised in Terre Haute, IN. She began playing volleyball in 6th grade. Before graduating in 2002, she played three years of volleyball at Terre Haute North. Along with this, she played three season of club volleyball run through Jim Bertoli and Indiana State. After graduating Indiana State University in 2006, Emily began her coaching career by assisting at Honey Creek Middle School. This is Emily's fourth year as a head coach with COA and is looking forward to a competitive new year!

Kristen Kerscher - 12 White

Kristen is from Toledo, Ohio and has been playing volleyball since 5th grade. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 2006. While in high school, Kristen was a four year letter winner and also earned First Team-All City and First Team-All District honors after her junior and senior campaigns. She also set school records in blocks and kills. Kristen was also a City-League All-Academic selection. She competed played for Toledo Volleyball Club. Kristen recently finished her senior season at Indiana State University where she has lettered all four years as a Right Side hitter. Kristen is majoring in Nursing and this will be her second year coaching. 

Jason LaBella - 14 Black

 Jason is originally from Massena, New York where he graduated from high school in 2000.  While in high school, Jason lettered four years in rifle shooting, and two years in track and field.  It was rifle and engineering that brought him to Rose-Hulman, where he graduated in 2004 with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering while lettering four years in rifle shooting and becoming the school's first rifle All-American.  While at Rose, Jason also worked with the men's club volleyball team and still plays occasionally in tournaments in Indy.  Currently, he teaches mathematics at Ivy Tech while working on his masters, and is coaching his 5th season of rifle at Rose-Hulman.  This is Jason's first year with with COA, and he is looking to combine his extensive rifle coaching experience with his love of the volleyball court.

Anna Lewer - 16 Blue

Anna Lewer is a freshman majoring in biomedical engineering at Rose-Hulman. She attended high school at Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, and lettered in Varsity Volleyball all four years. Her team won Sectionals all four years, twice finishing as Regional Runners-Up. Her Senior Year, Anna captained her team to the State Finals, and also won the Mental Attitude Award, Fist Team All-State, and Academic All-State. She played club volleyball for Circle City for three years, finishing her 18-1’s year placing fifth in the nation. Anna just completed her first year playing outside hitter for Coach Goble as a fighting engineers. She was named HCAC Freshmen of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and HCAC All-Freshmen Team.

Erika McGuire - 16 Blue

Erika McGuire is currently a freshman Biomedical Engineer at Rose-Hulman. She graduated in 2009 from Warren Central HS in Indianapolis, IN, where she lettered her junior and senior year. Erika has played volleyball year-round since the 7th grade, playing club for Warren Central, Indy Juniors, and IVA. She was co-captain both her freshman and senior years. She received the Most-Improved award her sophomore year and the Leadership award her senior year. Erika was named part of the 2009-2010 All-County and Academic All-State teams. She just completed her freshman volleyball season as a right-side playing for Coach Brenda Goble. This is Erika’s first year coaching for COA, and she is very excited for the upcoming season with 16 Blue!

Stephanie Meier -18 Red Assistant, 13 Red Assistant

Stephanie is from Cross Plains, Wisconsin where she graduated high school in 2005 from Wisconsin Heights High School. While in high school, Stephanie was a four year letter winner in volleyball. She is currently a senior at Indiana State University majoring in Nursing. She was a member of the Lady Sycamore volleyball team all four years of college. Stephanie played 5 years of club volleyball for Wisconsin Select in Madison, Wisconsin. This is Stephanie's first year with COA Volleyball.

Gina Minar - 12-Blue

Gina was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana where she attended Terre Haute North Vigo High School, graduating in 1995. While in high school, Gina lettered three years in tennis and played one year of volleyball. After high school, Gina attended the University of San Jose, Costa Rica and Indiana State University, where she earned a B.A. in English Education with a minor in Spanish. Gina also has a Master's degree in British and American literature. Now a teacher at Terre Haute South, Gina looks forward to joining the COA staff again. In 2002, she was an assistant coach for the 18 Red team.

Madison Minnick - 13 Red

Madison is beginning her 4th season with COA, This is her 3rd year coaching the13 Red team. Madison has been a life-long resident of Terre Haute, Indiana and graduated in 2005 from Terre Haute South. While at South, Madison earned three varsity letters in volleyball and two in basketball. She then attended Indiana State University and was a member of the Lady Sycamores Volleyball team. In the fall of 2006, Madison transferred to Oakland City University to continue her volleyball career. She had a record breaking season at OCU. The Lady Oaks placed 6th at the NCCAA National Tournament. Madison finished her playing career by being named the Mideast Player of the Year and 2nd team All-American. Currently, Madison is a special education teacher at Terre Haute North High School. She resides in Terre Haute, Indiana with her husband, Mark.

Brian Payne - 16 Red and Club Co-Director

Brian is the former head coach at Terre Haute South. While there, he led the team to three sectional titles and over 200 wins. He began playing volleyball competitively in 1987 while in high school. He has competed in the White River Park State Games and at the Boys' USVBA Nationals as a junior player. He then went on to be a part of the IPFW Men's Collegiate program for two years. He eventually finished his degree from Indiana State University. Along the way, he has been coaching club since 1991, when the local club was 'WVVC' under the direction of then ISU coach Rhonda Woodward. Along with Steve Beeler, they started what is today COA, and hope for success stories for the teams and individuals in future years.

Leah Pelzel - 14 White

Leah Pelzel is a sophomore at Rose-Hulman and is originally from Loveland, OH. She attended Mount Notre Dame High School has been playing volleyball since 3rd grade. She won the Division 1 State Championship in Ohio her junior year and was runner-up her senior year. She played club volleyball for Team Z and also Dayton Juniors. Leah has been an outside hitter for most of her career but has also played defense and started setting for the Fighting Engineers last year. She just completed her second year playing varsity volleyball for Coach Goble as a fighting engineer. She was named to the HCAC All-Freshman Team her freshman year and was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District this past season. This is Leah’s second year with COA and she is excited to start another season!

Alisha Polite - 18 Red

Alisha is from Valparaiso, Indiana where she graduated high school in 2005 from Washington Township High School. While in high school, Alisha was a four year letter winner in volleyball and three year letter winner in basketball. She is currently a senior at Indiana State University majoring in Physical Education All-Grade. She was a member of the Lady Sycamore volleyball team all four years of college. Alisha played 11 years of club volleyball for Dunes Volleyball Club, in Northern Indiana. Alisha is currently the head coach at Cloverdale High School. This is Alisha’s third year with COA and second year with 18 Red.
 

Nick Polite - 16 White

Nick is from Valparaiso, Indiana where he graduated high school in 2007 from Washington Township High School. While in high school, Nick was a four year letter winner in Men's volleyball and three year letter winner in basketball. He is currently a Junior at Indiana State University majoring in Mathematics Education. He is currently a member and founder of the Indiana State Men's Volleyball Team. Nick played 3 years of club volleyball for Dunes Volleyball Club, in Northern Indiana, where he also did a few years of coaching for the club. This is Nick's first year with COA and he is looking forward to a good club year.

Kate Sernett - 18 White

Kate is a senior at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Originally from Crystal Lake, IL, she attended Marian Central Catholic High School where she played varsity volleyball for two years, earning her varsity letter and pins. Her senior year of high school, Marian’s team qualified for State playoffs after having to be in the AA division that year. She played 5 years of club volleyball for Sky High in Crystal Lake. Recently, she completed her fourth year of college volleyball as a starting outside hitter for Rose-Hulman. In her final college season, Kate and the Rose-Hulman team established the best record (20-13) in school history and appeared in the conference tournament for the first time in ten years.

Jodi Stoker - 12 White

Jodi Stoker is a senior from Ames, Iowa majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy/Exercise Science at Indiana State and recently finished her 4th year as an Outside hitter with the Sycamores lettering all 4 years while earning All-Tournament honors at the Memphis Invitational and Sycamore Best Western ISU Classic, earning 2-time Honorable Mention Academic All-Conference, and is currently 10th on ISU's All-Time Kill List. In high school Stoker lettered all 4 years at Gilbert High School while earning All-Conference and All-District 3 years, All State Honorable Mention, Special Mention, and 2nd team, and Mid-Iowa Player of the Year honors twice. She was also selected to play in the Senior All-Star Classic after her final season at Gilbert.

Morgan Williams - 18 White

Morgan is a sophomore at Rose-Hulman majoring in biomedical engineering. She attended high school at Powers Catholic in Flint MI where she played varsity volleyball all 4 years earning 2 district championships, an academic all-state award every year, and named first team all-conference for two years. She also played UASV club volleyball for Top Gun out of the Great Lakes region for three years. She has just completed her second year as a varsity player for Rose and is looking forward to coaching COA this year.
